David Chavez, 38, was shot and killed on December 19, 2015, in Cathedral City, California, near the area known as Candy Cane Lane. Chavez died at the scene after an argument with another driver escalated into a confrontation and gunfire. His pregnant girlfriend, about 35 weeks along, was also struck, underwent surgery and survived; their unborn child died in the attack. Three children were in the vehicle but were not physically harmed.

Witnesses said the shooter was a Hispanic male in his 30s who fled on foot. The shooter’s vehicle, described as a dark-colored SUV, left the scene driven by a woman with a child inside. Cathedral City Police collected evidence and have sought help identifying the suspect, but the case remains unsolved.

Did anyone in the Cathedral City area that night see the SUV or recognize the man who ran from the scene?
