I’ve been thinking a lot about the role communities play in healing after such tragic events. The outpouring of love and support at Joshua Demps' funeral at True Vine Outreach Ministries must have been a source of comfort for his grieving family. It’s moments like these, even in the midst of tremendous loss, that show the strength and unity of a community like Starke.
I can't help but feel immense empathy for Joshua’s parents, Leeshell and Carlos, and his sisters. Losing someone they loved so suddenly and violently is unimaginable, but I hope the support they have received helps them find some solace. It's a stark reminder of how important it is for communities to come together after such tragedies, not only to remember the individual but to support one another through the grieving process.
It would be interesting to hear how other communities have rallied in similar situations and if those efforts have inspired lasting change or initiatives to help prevent violence in the future. Has anyone else experienced or witnessed this kind of communal support?
