Cheryl Yvonne Davis was 17 when she disappeared in the summer of 1979 in Charleston, South Carolina. She was last seen after midnight on July 4 at the 7-11 at Ashley Hall Road and Sam Rittenberg Boulevard. Described as petite, about 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 3 inches and 110 pounds, she had naturally red hair dyed blonde that night, brown eyes, and was wearing a tank top, white Levi’s shorts, flip-flops and carrying a straw purse with butterflies.

One man later said he’d seen her at the gas station and remembered her because of her tan; that lead did not develop. Years on, a jailhouse informant prompted a search in woods off Arlington Drive in West Ashley; ground-penetrating radar and a cadaver dog did not produce a public resolution. Cheryl is listed as an endangered missing person and the Charleston Police Department retains the case file.

If anyone knew Cheryl, saw her that night, or has information about the Arlington Drive tip, please contact the Charleston Police Department.
