George Delancy, a 39-year-old African American man from Mims, Florida, was killed on May 5, 2021. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds that were determined to be the cause of death, and the incident was investigated as a homicide.

Authorities identified and questioned several suspects during the investigation. Two people were arrested and charged with first-degree murder and related offenses; prosecutors said forensic evidence, witness testimony, and surveillance footage formed the case and that a personal dispute between Delancy and one of the suspects was the alleged motive.
