Jim-Travis Gray, a 23-year-old Black man, was shot and killed on April 25, 2021, in Pahokee, Florida. The shooting happened on the 200 block of Daniel Place while Gray was walking with his mother. Two men approached; one was identified as Lanorris Lee, 33, and without any verbal exchange they opened fire. Gray’s mother was present and unharmed.

Investigators say Gray had unresolved issues with three local men that may have contributed to the encounter. Earlier that day one of the men allegedly tried to hit Gray with a vehicle. Gray also had been involved in a separate shooting at a local store in which another man was shot and survived but did not cooperate with investigators. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrested Lanorris Lee and charged him with first-degree murder; he is being held without bail at the Palm Beach County Jail.

Gray was a former Pahokee High School running back on the school’s 2016 state championship team. Does anyone who knew Jim-Travis or who was in Pahokee that day have information that could help clarify what happened?
