Melissa Marie Nease, a 29-year-old mother of three, was found shot to death inside her home at 68 Guava Pass Drive in Ocklawaha, Florida, on February 28, 2021. She had stayed behind to work while the rest of her family were on a trip to Tennessee. Her death was ruled a homicide by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say two suspects were involved in the killing. The Sheriff’s Office released a short clip from home security footage showing one of the suspects and asked the public to help identify that individual, but the suspects’ identities remain unknown and investigators continue to develop leads.

Family members, including her sister Amy Harris, have appealed for justice and closure; Nease’s children and relatives are reported to be struggling in the wake of her death. Detectives have interviewed family, friends and neighbors and are soliciting tips, including anonymous ones, from the community.
