I can't stop thinking about the impact Dionne "D3" Leslie had on those around him, especially his participation in the Young Marines. It speaks volumes about his character and dedication to being a part of something greater than himself. I'm sure his leadership and kindness left a lasting impression on his fellow members and everyone who knew him. It's so tragic that such a promising young life was cut short in such a violent manner. The arrest of Brandon Hopkins definitely brought some relief to the community, but I can't help but think about how the young people who were inspired by Dionne might be feeling right now. Many of them must still be grappling with his loss and trying to find ways to honor his memory. I really hope the continued dialogue about community unity and support for youth programs in Lake City leads to concrete actions and opportunities for young people to channel their energy positively. Dionne’s legacy deserves to be one of hope and change, not just one tinged with sadness. ? My thoughts are with his family and friends as they navigate this complex journey towards healing and justice.
