Devyne Pritchett, 19, was killed on September 6, 2020, at the Landings at Four Corners apartments in Davenport, Florida. Pritchett, described as 5 feet 5 inches and 125 pounds, had been staying with friends at a nearby Best Western. In the early morning he ingested acid, became erratic and wandered into the complex wearing only shorts and socks.
A resident walking a dog said Pritchett made a gun gesture with his fingers and said pow, pow, pow. That resident alerted a roommate and 911. Bryan Medeiros retrieved a gun from his car after being told about the disturbance. The Polk County Sheriff characterized Medeiros’s use of force as excessive. Medeiros was charged with manslaughter and carrying a concealed weapon.
What did neighbors see that morning or know about Pritchett’s movements before the shooting?
