Julian Keen Jr., a 30-year-old LaBelle, Florida resident and six-year member of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, was fatally shot on June 14, 2020. Keen was off-duty when he and a friend witnessed a reckless driver and pursued the vehicle to a convenience store. During a confrontation there, the driver produced a firearm and shot Keen.

The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement opened an investigation. Three suspects were taken into custody and questioned; authorities later identified the driver as Eliceo Hernandez and charged him in connection with the shooting.
