Tammie Sherice Ash, 45, was found dead on January 22, 2020, at a FEMA camp site at 205 Kraft Avenue, Lot 23, in Millville, Panama City, Florida. Investigators concluded her death resulted from a domestic dispute that escalated into a fatal shooting in the early hours of January 22.
William Briggs, described as having a 15-year on-and-off relationship with Ash, was identified as the primary suspect and was arrested later that day. He was charged with second-degree murder with a firearm, felon possession of a firearm, and trafficking in MDMA. Two others, Calvin C.J. Peters Jr. and Venus Harris, were charged with tampering with evidence after returning to the trailer and removing items of evidentiary value without reporting the death.
Reports state Briggs later entered a no-contest plea and was sentenced by Circuit Judge Ana Garcia to 40 years in the Department of Corrections, with the first 25 years to be served without gain time. Anyone with information about Tammie, the camp site, or the events that night is asked to come forward.
