Hicksbert Dwight Grant, 48, was shot and killed outside his Coral Springs home near Northwest 38th Street and 72nd Drive on the night of October 29, 2019. Police responded to a 911 report of a man with a gunshot wound around 9 p.m.; neighbors said they heard a couple of gunshots shortly before officers and paramedics arrived. Grant was taken to Broward Health North and pronounced dead.
Coral Springs police later announced the arrest of 27-year-old Tevaughn Jerome Campbell of Coconut Creek on November 7, 2019, charging him with first-degree murder. Investigators say Campbell allegedly targeted Grant believing he had withdrawn a large sum of cash; Grant had actually gone to the bank to make a deposit and did not have substantial cash on him. The arrest involved Coral Springs PD, Coconut Creek PD, and the Broward Sheriff’s Office crime lab, and the Crimes Against Person Unit asked anyone with information to come forward.
Grant lived with his wife and his six-year-old daughter; neighbors described the neighborhood as shocked and saddened by the killing. Does anyone have information about the events that night or about Grant’s movements just before the shooting?
