Chanel Zhane Brown, 23, of Winter Haven, Florida, was found dead from gunshot wounds on October 6, 2019, alongside 42-year-old Latoya Dimitria Owens in a home on Avenue V NW, across from Sportsman Park. Both women were last seen alive around 11 p.m. the previous night and were discovered the next morning. The killings were described by family and friends as senseless and heartbreaking.
Investigators identified 35-year-old Antonio Jamar Davis as a person of interest; he later turned himself in to the Lakeland Police Department on an unrelated outstanding warrant. Reports state Davis had a prior violent incident in August when he allegedly threatened someone with a firearm. DNA evidence tying him to the scene, plus other forensic work and multiple interviews, led to his arrest and charges of two counts of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with evidence. He was held without bond in the Polk County Jail.
Does anyone have information about Chanel’s last known movements or about activity near Avenue V NW that night?
