Latoya Dimitria Owens, 42, was found dead in her Winter Haven home on October 6, 2019. Owens and 23-year-old Chanel Zhane Brown were discovered at Owens’ residence on Avenue V NW, across from Sportsman Park, each with fatal gunshot wounds; Owens suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

Investigators identified 35-year-old Antonio Jamar Davis, who had a prior relationship with Owens, as a person of interest. Davis turned himself in to the Lakeland Police Department on the same day for an unrelated outstanding warrant and was held at the Polk County Jail. Police said Davis had been involved in an August altercation at Owens’ home during which he allegedly threatened her with a gun.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reported DNA from the crime scene, including fingernail clippings from Brown, matched Davis. He was indicted by a Polk County grand jury and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with evidence. Owens was described by family as a loving mother of four.

Does anyone have information about Owens, Brown, or activity around Avenue V NW in October 2019?
