David Alexander Zavala was 19 and a resident of LaBelle, Florida, when he was found unresponsive in the back seat of a truck in the Country Village community near LaBelle on July 3, 2019. Responding deputies determined he had been shot. Born December 11, 1999, in Fort Myers, David was remembered as a vibrant presence in his community; his death deeply affected family and friends.

Investigators identified a 16-year-old suspect in connection with the shooting and described the motive as drug-related.
