Shawn Robbins, a 27-year-old man from Cocoa, Florida, was shot and killed on June 2, 2019, inside the Walmart on East Merritt Island Causeway in Merritt Island. The shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. after Robbins went to the store to confront 27-year-old Walmart employee Rashad Gibson over a relationship dispute involving a woman both men were involved with.

Gibson shot Robbins once; Robbins collapsed near the store entrance and was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies evacuated shoppers and secured the area; Gibson remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Prosecutors later reviewed the investigation and concluded Gibson’s use of deadly force was legally justified, finding he reasonably feared for his safety.

Robbins’ family described him as caring and loving and recalled his history as a promising basketball player. Does anyone have additional information about the events that evening or knew Robbins, Gibson, or the woman involved?
