Michael Quirello, 64, was shot and killed on December 13, 2018, in the parking lot of the Quality Inn at 350 E Norvell Bryant Highway in Hernando, Florida. Reports say he was changing a tire on his car when 70-year-old Salvatore Tirone, driven by jealousy over Quirello’s relationship with Tirone’s ex-wife, shot him. Investigators are also examining whether Tirone slashed the tire to lure Quirello outside.

After the shooting Tirone fled in a black Mercedes SUV. A witness with a concealed carry permit fired at Tirone as he left; Tirone returned fire and then led law enforcement on a multi-county high-speed chase. The pursuit ended on Interstate 75 in Sumter County when deputies immobilized Tirone’s vehicle. Tirone exited and opened fire; deputies returned fire and Tirone was killed. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the deputy-involved shooting.

Does anyone have information about Quirello’s movements that day, or about what happened in the Quality Inn parking lot before the shooting?
