Carl Stacy Berryman, 62, was killed on September 14, 2018, in North Port, Florida, following a longstanding dispute with a neighbor. Berryman, born in Riverside, California and known by nicknames including Stacy, Ray, and Ray Sharkey, served in the U.S. Navy from 1976 to 1978. He enjoyed playing drums, NASCAR, and working on cars, and is survived by his wife Pamela of 42 years, his mother, brothers, daughters, and grandchildren.
Tensions with neighbors reportedly escalated over time. In the month before his death Berryman allegedly set a neighbor’s garbage on fire, and a week before he fired shots into a neighbor’s car, leading to an arrest. Authorities had seized his firearms under a risk protection order enacted after the Parkland shooting. On the morning of September 14, 2018, a confrontation with neighbor John Krug Jr. resulted in Krug shooting and killing Berryman; Krug was charged with second-degree murder.
Did anyone in North Port know Carl or witness the disputes between him and his neighbors?
