Jack Merriman Jr., 42, was shot and killed on August 11, 2018, in McIntosh, Florida. The shooting took place just before midnight in the 20300 block of Northwest 1st Street after a verbal disturbance prompted a 911 call. Officers found Merriman suffering from a gunshot wound; he was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.

Jack’s mother, Connie Close, and her fiancé, Ray, were at the residence when the shooting occurred. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office investigated and forwarded the case to the State Attorney’s Office for review, but no arrests were made and no charges were filed. The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear and no suspects were publicly identified.
