Walter Russell Elliott IV, 62, was found dead in a workshop on SE 145th Street in Summerfield, Florida, on July 28, 2018. Marion County deputies ruled the death a homicide after investigators determined Elliott had been shot in the head and his body was set on fire.

Surveillance cameras inside the workshop reportedly captured the attack. The footage shows Elliott seated when a man identified as 36-year-old Jake Napier shot him, then poured an accelerant on the body and set it ablaze. Napier fled to Texas after the incident and was later arrested there on arson and evidence-tampering charges before being extradited to Marion County to face second-degree murder charges.

The property where Elliott was found belonged to Christopher Shane Fulk, who was arrested on unrelated grand theft of a motor vehicle charges after refusing to return a 2004 Mercedes and allegedly threatening the owner with a gun. Investigators noted the property had a reputation for drug activity, which complicated the inquiry.
