Nancy Kirk Williams, 69, was murdered during a home burglary in Crestview, Florida, on May 26, 2018. Her body was found in a detached garage near her house after her elderly mother reported her missing on May 28; investigators found Williams had been shot multiple times and her face was covered with a beach towel.
Investigators identified 17-year-old Jeremiah Murphy as a suspect. Murphy, who had dated Williams’ granddaughter, admitted that he and an unidentified accomplice planned the burglary. He confessed that Williams was shot during the break-in, that he stole her vehicle and fled, and shell casings at the scene matched a .380 pistol belonging to his parents.
Murphy was arrested on May 29, 2018, and charged with first-degree felony murder; the State Attorney’s Office filed charges in adult court. In a negotiated plea agreement Murphy received a minimum prison term of 40 years and is eligible for a review of his sentence after 25 years because of his age at the time of the offense.
Did anyone in Crestview know Nancy or have information about the burglary or the unidentified accomplice?
