Adrian Kinard, 26, was fatally shot in the early morning of July 17, 2015 while working as a security guard at the Central Gardens Apartments in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Around 1 a.m. he and a fellow guard were seated in their personal vehicles completing paperwork when gunfire erupted in the parking lot. Both men were struck; Kinard was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead, while his colleague survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses reported a black Dodge Charger speeding away from the scene. Police later recovered a black Dodge Charger believed to have been used, parked on a street in Northeast Washington, D.C. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction, but no suspects or arrests have been announced and the case remains unsolved. Kinard is remembered by his family as a loving, caring man who left behind a one-year-old daughter and had wanted to become a police officer.
If anyone has information about the shooting or the vehicle seen fleeing the scene, please share it with the Prince George’s County Police Department.
