Anthony Martin, a 34-year-old Black man, was shot outside a nightclub in Pahokee, Florida, in the early hours of January 21, 2018. The shooting took place near Ivy Lane and South Lake Avenue after Martin exited the club. Witnesses said a man identified as Taraus McKinley had been waiting outside; when Martin came out, McKinley shot him multiple times. Friends transported Martin to Lakeside Medical Center, where he later died.
Investigators with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office collected witness statements and examined the events leading up to the shooting. The inquiry noted a prior 2017 incident in which Martin had been arrested on aggravated battery charges involving McKinley as the alleged victim, a dispute that investigators considered relevant to the fatal encounter.
If anyone was in that area that night or knew Martin’s movements or relationships leading up to January 21, 2018, please share information with investigators.
