Wallace Dean Worman, an 87-year-old retired Air Force pilot and long-time member of Aloma United Methodist Church, was killed on October 22, 2017, in Casselberry, Florida. According to investigators, Worman picked up dinner in Winter Park and was carjacked by 23-year-old Edward Israel Marrero. Marrero allegedly forced Worman into his own car, drove him to a bank and used his debit card to withdraw cash, then returned Worman to his home in Casselberry, robbed him of cash and credit cards, and fatally shot him.
Surveillance footage and witness accounts were used to piece together the sequence of events. Marrero, who had a criminal history including a recent release for aggravated stalking, was arrested and charged in connection with Worman’s murder but was found unresponsive in his cell from an apparent suicide attempt and died after being taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Worman is remembered for his service and community involvement; his family and church mourn the loss. Did anyone who knew Wallace or saw him in Casselberry or Winter Park on October 22, 2017, notice anything that could help clarify the timeline?
