On September 15, 2017, 60-year-old Roger Lingo of Saint-Cloud, Florida, was found dead after a violent altercation at his Cherokee Road home. Deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office had been called for an armed disturbance; when they arrived they discovered Lingo deceased and 75-year-old Benton Clark with gunshot wounds. Clark was airlifted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators reported that Clark drove through the gate at Lingo’s residence, and an exchange of gunfire occurred between the two men. The exact sequence of events and who fired first remained unclear. Authorities said Clark surrendered peacefully and cooperated with the investigation, and the sheriff’s office sought a first-degree murder charge against him. The probe focused on the motive and the relationship dynamics involving Clark, Lingo, and Lingo’s wife, who was known to Clark.
Does anyone have information about the relationship between Lingo, his wife, and Benton Clark that could clarify what led to this shooting?
