William Lolley II, 29, of Summerfield, Florida, died after being shot on July 31, 2017, at the home of 49-year-old Jeffery Jack Rewis, 13660 SE 80th Avenue. The shooting followed a heated argument that began over a pair of sandals Lolley was wearing that belonged to Rewis.

Investigators say Rewis gave conflicting statements, first saying he used a baseball bat to scare Lolley and his companions away, then saying he saw Lolley with a gun and that the weapon discharged accidentally during a struggle. Witnesses reported Rewis threatened Lolley and fired multiple shots from a rifle as Lolley tried to leave. Authorities also located ammunition and marijuana plants at Rewis’ home and noted Rewis is a convicted felon who is not legally allowed to possess firearms.

Rewis was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and faced additional charges including possession of a machine gun, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; he was being held without bond pending further hearings. Does anyone have information about the night of July 31, 2017, or the people involved?
