Nigel Williams, 23, was fatally shot inside his home on County Road 229-P in Wildwood, Florida, just after midnight on July 4, 2017. He was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center but died shortly after arrival. Investigators reported he was shot multiple times, a detail authorities say points to a targeted attack rather than a random act.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office canvassed the neighborhood, reviewed surveillance footage where available and interviewed potential witnesses, but the probe encountered few immediate leads and some community reluctance to share information. Detectives considered possible motives including personal disputes and criminal activity but reported no definitive conclusions.

No arrests or identified suspects have been announced and the case remains open. If anyone has information about Nigel Williams or that night, please contact the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
