I find myself reflecting on the conflicting descriptions of Michael and Barbara's relationship. It's puzzling how his children didn't notice any issues between them, while others mentioned marital problems and Barbara's fear. It's a reminder that we can't always see what might be going on beneath the surface, even with those we think we know well. It must be incredibly difficult for Michael's children to reconcile these reports with their own experiences. Thinking of everyone touched by this tragedy, especially Barbara's mother who must be enduring immense pain. Sometimes the signs are missed, and we're left with questions that never get answered. It's haunting to think about, really. Sending my thoughts to all their loved ones trying to piece together something that doesn't seem to make sense.

I've been thinking a lot about the maintenance worker who discovered the scene. It must have been incredibly traumatic to find the Bittermans like that, especially since they were just trying to be helpful by checking in on the house. It's a reminder of how sudden and shocking these situations can be for everyone involved, not just the immediate family. I can't imagine the emotions they must have gone through at that moment and afterward. My heart goes out to them, as well as to the entire community trying to process this tragedy.
