Amanda Suarez was 25 and a mother of four when she was found dead in her Okeechobee, Florida home on December 7, 2016. A relative discovered her with a fatal gunshot wound to the back of her head; her two-year-old son was in the house at the time.

Investigators say 21-year-old Christopher William Shows, who was acquainted with the family and reportedly dating Suarez’s cousin, had been allowed into the home. After Suarez rejected his unwanted sexual advances, he allegedly retrieved a .22 caliber rifle from his truck, re-entered the house and shot her as she tried to flee. Detectives recovered Suarez’s missing cell phone near Okeechobee Missionary Baptist Church; a photo on the device taken within 30 minutes of the killing reportedly shows Shows inside the home, and he later confessed, saying he wanted to experience the feel of killing someone. Shows was indicted on first-degree premeditated murder and related charges and is in custody without bond.

The family has asked for privacy to protect Suarez’s children. Does anyone have information that could help clarify events that night?
