Edward Williams, 32, was shot and killed at the Hamlet Apartments, 4681 Northwest 10th Court in Plantation, Florida, on October 17, 2016, at about 10:30 a.m. He was struck twice, in the chest and hip, and died during surgery after being taken to Broward Health Medical Center. The shooting was not described as random; investigators say Williams knew his assailant.

Surveillance footage showed Williams arrive in a red Dodge Charger and approach a Chevrolet Malibu. A hand extended from the Malibu holding a gun and fired. Williams ran but collapsed, and before losing consciousness he identified his shooter as Big Man and gave a description of the shooter’s girlfriend. Police later arrested 22-year-old Isaiah Hargrett of Fort Lauderdale on suspicion of premeditated murder after stopping him for a traffic violation; he was also cited for possession of cannabis and for not exhibiting a license, and a not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf by the public defender’s office.

The motive remains unclear. Anyone who knew Williams or who has information about Big Man or the incident is asked to come forward.
