Tarenzo Ladarius Smith, 27, was killed on August 27, 2016, at the Sunbay Motel in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Smith and another resident, Fredrick Bentley, got into an argument that escalated. Bentley reportedly left briefly, returned with a firearm, and shot Smith at close range. Smith died at the scene; officers who responded to a shots-fired call around 4:30 a.m. pronounced him dead.

Investigators identified Bentley as the prime suspect. He fled but was later found walking on Magnolia Drive in Clearwater and arrested without incident. Officers recovered the firearm used in the shooting in Bentley’s hotel room. Bentley was charged with first-degree murder and held in the Pinellas County Jail without bond.

Did anyone in the area know Smith or have information about arguments at the Sunbay Motel that night?
