Christopher Jermaine Allen, 36, was found unresponsive after a shooting on May 12, 2016, in the 700 block of N.E. 14th Avenue in the Douglas Park area of Okeechobee. Deputies arrived about 2:54 p.m.; they performed CPR until Fire Rescue took over and Allen was transported to Raulerson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 29-year-old woman was also shot that day and taken to Raulerson Hospital, later transferred to Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce; her condition is not reported. Detectives identified 20-year-old Cornelius Monray Merriweather as a person of interest and asked the public to contact Detective Mark Shireman with information. No arrests have been reported and the motive has not been disclosed.
