Trevius Donte Roberts, a 23-year-old African American man, was shot and killed on April 25, 2016, outside The Meadows apartment complex on Margaret Square in Winter Park, Florida. The Winter Park Police Department responded and the case was taken up by the Joint Homicide Investigation Team.

Investigators worked in the days after the murder to gather evidence and identify suspects. On May 12, 2016, police arrested Darius Deshon Wright and charged him with first-degree murder in connection with Roberts’s death. The shooting was reported amid a brief run of violent incidents in Winter Park, including a robbery and shooting on West Swoope Avenue the previous day that left a victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

Winter Park officials publicly thanked police for the arrest, and the investigation remained focused on assembling the case against Wright and providing answers for Roberts’s family. If anyone has information about what happened outside The Meadows on April 25, please come forward.
