Freddie Dillon, 44 and from Orlando, was found unresponsive inside his white four-door Acura after the car ran off the road and struck a tree in the 1600 block of Northeast 37th Street in Ocala on March 16, 2016. Witnesses said Dillon had been shot and bystanders pulled him from the vehicle and gave CPR until paramedics arrived. He died the next day at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office opened a death investigation and detectives worked to reconstruct the last 72 to 96 hours of Dillon’s movements and contacts in Ocala. Authorities have not released the location of the gunshot wounds, the type of weapon, or whether a firearm was recovered; an autopsy was completed but results were not made public. No arrests or suspects have been announced and the investigation remains open.
Anyone with information about Dillon’s movements in Ocala or who may have seen the vehicle before the crash is asked to contact investigators.
