Antwan Davis was 15 when he was shot in the head and killed while walking on North Lakewood Avenue in Ocoee, Florida, on March 12, 2016. His body was found on a sidewalk near Anderson Place just before midnight. Antwan was a student at Ocoee Middle School, enjoyed fishing at Starke Lake, and was remembered by friends and family at a candlelight vigil there.
Investigators arrested 17-year-old Michael Anderson, who was charged with second-degree murder. Anderson was said to have known Antwan and to have sold him marijuana before the shooting; he was found hiding in woods near South Orange Blossom Trail and Piedmont Wekiwa Road shortly after the incident. Eighteen-year-old Lindsey Shirley was arrested on allegations of being an accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence for attempting to dispose of the murder weapon. Michael Anderson later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 25-year sentence; Antwan’s family publicly voiced that the sentence was insufficient.
