Hung Do, 59, was fatally shot on August 12, 2015, in East Oakland, California. His killing came during a violent year for the city, which recorded 83 homicides in 2015, and has been described as one of several cases from that period with limited leads and no clear motive initially reported.

The Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Division increased investigative resources that year, adding investigators to try to improve clearance rates. Despite those efforts, details about Hung Do’s death remained sparse and the case was listed among unsolved homicides from 2015. Police appealed for public cooperation and asked anyone with information about his murder to come forward.
