Kim Maria Boswell, 46, of Cantonment, Florida, was found shot to death in her Jacks Branch Road home on December 13, 2015. A second victim, 50-year-old Wendell Nichols of Cantonment, was discovered dead on the living room couch; deputies pronounced both victims dead at the scene.

Investigators arrested 45-year-old Chad Mark Fontenot, who was in a relationship with Boswell, at the scene and took him into custody. Fontenot initially spoke with authorities and admitted to the shootings before asking for a lawyer. A revolver with four spent casings and five unspent casings was recovered in the garage. Nichols had been staying with Boswell while recovering from an injury, and on the night of the killings his girlfriend reported hearing a loud bang and a woman screaming before their call abruptly ended.
