Shelly Strickland, a 50-year-old educator from Perry, Florida, was found dead on June 24, 2015, inside her garage, behind the wheel of her car. She had been shot three times in the face through the driver’s side window with a small-caliber handgun; shattered glass was scattered across the garage floor. Investigators reported the gun cabinet in her home had been forcibly opened and several firearms, including a .45 caliber and a .375 Magnum, plus numerous arrowheads and artifacts, were missing. Early investigative accounts suggested robbery as the motive.

Authorities focused on Strickland’s nephew, Garrett Arrowood, and two others, Rodney and Manden Whiddon, alleging the trio planned and carried out the robbery that led to her killing. Manden Whiddon reportedly gave information that led police to a camper where the three lived and where a .32-caliber handgun was recovered; that weapon was not the murder gun. Stolen firearms were later recovered from a barn after being taken there by Garrett Arrowood.

Shelly had spent nearly three decades in the Taylor County School District as a teacher, dean, and principal, and her death deeply affected the small community. If anyone knew Shelly, her routines, or saw suspicious activity around her home in late June 2015, please share what you know with investigators.
