Angela M. Covington, 37, was shot and killed on July 16, 2014, inside her business, Ann Marie’s All That and More, on Cervantes Street in Brownsville, Florida. The shooting occurred shortly before noon after a verbal argument earlier that morning. Witnesses said her live-in boyfriend, Dearin J. Leggs, 28, returned to the store with a handgun and shot Covington multiple times; she died at the scene.

Leggs surrendered at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office about an hour later and was charged with first-degree murder and held without bond. Prosecutors linked the motive to domestic violence, alleging Leggs was enraged by reports of Covington’s alleged infidelity. During the trial Leggs confessed to the shooting; the jury found him guilty of premeditated first-degree murder and he was sentenced to life without parole.

Covington was a local business owner whose death deeply affected her community. Does anyone have memories of Ann Marie’s All That and More or information about Covington’s life that could help document her legacy?
