I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of mental health in the tragic deaths of Sophia and her family. It's so difficult to comprehend how someone could commit such an unthinkable act. I read that Sonny Medina was employed by the Salvation Army, which makes this even more perplexing. You’d assume that working in an environment focused on helping others might provide a sense of community or resources for mental health support. I wonder if there were any warning signs or if he was struggling silently. My heart goes out to both families who are left to navigate this immense loss. It's crucial that we have more open conversations about mental health, especially in settings where people are often dealing with stressful situations. If just one person might be helped or a tragedy averted through greater awareness, it’s so worth it. My prayers are with the loved ones of Sophia, Maria, Allison, and Mia. They deserved so much more.
