Dr. Steven Patlin Schwartz, a 74-year-old nephrologist from Tarpon Springs, Florida, was found dead in his mansion on May 28, 2014. His wife, Rebecca Schwartz, reported discovering his body and called police, saying a robbery had occurred. Investigators determined Dr. Schwartz had been shot, stabbed, and beaten.

A year after the killing, handyman Anton Stragaj — who had worked on the Schwartz properties — was arrested after his DNA was reportedly found on Dr. Schwartz’s body. Stragaj denied the charges, saying he was set up and alleging Rebecca Schwartz had asked him to find someone to kill her husband; Rebecca Schwartz denied those allegations. Dr. Schwartz’s 1961 involvement in a botched robbery in Hobbs, New Mexico, which led to a dentist’s death and nine years in prison before a commuted sentence, has been mentioned in coverage but no definitive connection to the 2014 murder has been established.

The estate became the subject of civil litigation by Dr. Schwartz’s children, adding further complications. Does anyone have additional information about the investigation, trial records, or people connected to the case?
