Christopher Albano, 34, was shot and killed on January 1, 2014, in Avalon Park, Orange County, Florida. The shooting occurred during a domestic disturbance in the early hours of New Year’s Day after Albano returned home intoxicated and allegedly struck his wife. His 15-year-old son intervened and shot Albano multiple times in the back. Albano’s wife called 911; deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find Albano deceased and took the teenager into custody for questioning.
Investigators collected evidence at the scene, interviewed witnesses and indicated no other suspects were involved. Reports describe the boy as having no prior history of violence. The case raised legal questions about self-defense, domestic violence and how the justice system should handle a minor who killed a parent during a family dispute. Does anyone have additional details about the family or the events that night that could shed light on what led to this tragedy?
