Marvin Pritchett, an 80-year-old businessman from Lake Butler, Florida, was killed on August 24, 2013, during a shooting that targeted several people connected to his businesses. Pritchett founded and ran Pritchett Trucking, Inc., and also had interests in timber, farming and truck dealerships; family remember him as a devoted family man and community supporter.
The shooter, identified as a 72-year-old former employee, went to multiple locations tied to Pritchett’s enterprises, killed three former co-workers including Pritchett, wounded another person, and then died at the scene. The former employee had overseen operations at Rolling Oaks, Pritchett’s farm, and had left employment about two weeks before the incident. Investigators and family were unable to determine a clear motive for the attack.
Pritchett’s sons Jon and Phillip assumed day-to-day control of the businesses after his death. Does anyone have memories of Marvin Pritchett or information about the events that day to share?
