Natasha Plummer, a 25-year-old African American woman, was shot to death on January 15, 2012, in an apartment in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Two other people in the unit also died that day: her 6-month-old son, Carlton Stringer Jr., and 21-year-old roommate Octavia Barnett. A friend discovered the bodies after not hearing from them for some time. The Broward Sheriff’s Office reported all three victims had been shot.
Investigators identified 20-year-old Lineten Belizaire as the primary suspect and arrested and charged him in connection with the three killings. Court filings say a Facebook post by Barnett placed Belizaire at the front door shortly before the shootings, and cell phone triangulation reportedly placed him near the scene, which investigators say contradicted his casino alibi. Barnett’s 11-month-old son survived and was found unharmed; the child was placed in foster care while authorities sought relatives for custody.
The motive was not immediately clear, though court materials showed Belizaire had a contentious relationship with Barnett and friends said he did not want her to carry a pregnancy to term. Does anyone have information about the victims, the apartment, or what happened that morning?
