Daniel Michael ’Danny’ McNair, 57, was fatally shot while driving in the Oakcrest neighborhood of Pensacola on the morning of July 30, 2009. He was struck by a bullet behind his left ear as he drove his Buick along Kentucky Drive; the shot caused him to lose control, run through bushes and a fence, and crash into a house on the 200 block of Tennessee Drive. Doctors at Baptist Hospital found the gunshot lodged in his head and reported catastrophic brain damage. McNair died at the hospital around 10 p.m. on July 31, 2009.

Escambia County authorities treated the death as a homicide and said no suspects or witnesses were identified immediately after the incident; deputies urged anyone with information to come forward.
