Nafee Curtis Smith, 20, was shot and killed on the 1600 block of Addison Road South in District Heights, Maryland, on the night of November 7, 2013. Police found him in the road near his home around 11:55 p.m.; he was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Family described him as a beloved son, brother, and grandson; his great-grandmother, who had seen him less than a month earlier, remembered him as a lovely child.

Investigators said Smith was walking south on Addison Road when an individual approached and shot him. The motive was not publicly disclosed, and law enforcement stated they did not believe the killing was random. The Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit handled the case and asked the public for information. No arrests have been announced.
