Albert Oskie Simmons was 35 when he was murdered in Broward County, Florida, on April 30, 1974. Simmons was a member of the Hell’s Angels and was killed alongside fellow Hell’s Angels members Edward Riverboat Riley and George Whiskey Hartman. The three were ambushed, executed gang-style by members of the rival Outlaws motorcycle gang, their bodies weighted with concrete blocks and dumped in a rock pit in west Broward.

Investigators traced the attack to James Big Jim Nolan, then leader of the Outlaws’ South Florida chapter; Nolan was tried three times for ordering the killings and was acquitted in 1979. Henry Funky Tim Amis received a life sentence for his role but was later killed in a prison fight. William Gatemouth Edson and Ralph Lucifer Yannotta testified against Nolan and received lesser sentences. Edward Spider Risinger is named as a suspect and remains a fugitive.

The case drew major attention because of the violent rivalry between the Hell’s Angels and the Outlaws and the difficulty prosecutors faced obtaining reliable testimony against organized crime figures. Anyone with information about the murders or the fugitive named is asked to come forward.
