George Hartman Jr., known as Whiskey, was a 28-year-old member of the Hells Angels’ Lowell, Massachusetts charter who was killed on April 30, 1974. Hartman and two fellow Hells Angels, Albert Oskie Simmons and Edward Riverboat Riley Jr., were ambushed while reportedly out gun running in Broward County, Florida. All three were shot in the back of the head and their bodies were dumped.
The slayings were part of an open conflict between the Hells Angels and the Outlaws Motorcycle Club. Federal agents and the Broward Sheriff’s Office later conducted investigations that led to a sweeping indictment linking members of the Outlaws to multiple killings and to charges including racketeering, drug sales, and extortion. The indictment named figures such as James Thomas Big Jim Nolan, a former president of the South Florida Outlaws chapter.
What details about Hartman’s movements in Florida or witnesses to the ambush might still help clarify who carried out the executions?
