Antonio King ’Q’ Johnson was a 29-year-old father and Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church member known in Cedartown, Georgia, for his joking nature and love of Jiu-Jitsu. On the evening of December 19, 2022, a violent home invasion occurred at his residence on Hutto Road during which Johnson was shot. He was airlifted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta and died of his injuries on December 20, 2022.
The Polk County Police Department, with help from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, identified and arrested 30-year-old Brandon Lyle of Cedartown in connection with the incident. Investigators allege Lyle stole a vehicle from Johnson’s home after the shooting and was found armed during a burglary in progress on the same road; officers report a brief struggle before his arrest. Lyle faces charges including murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, home invasion, burglary, and theft by taking, and the Polk County District Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case.
Johnson’s family and community mourn a man described as a loving father with a quiet spirit. If anyone has information about the home invasion or events on Hutto Road that night, please share what you know.
