A social visit in Dallas, Georgia, ended in a deadly shooting in the early hours of Sunday, December 18, 2022. Dane Michael Patrick Kellum, a 38-year-old White male, was fatally shot in the head during a dispute at a friend’s home on Mill Point Drive. The homeowner, 47-year-old David Ayers May, was hosting a group where heavy drinking was reported that evening.

According to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, a verbal argument between Kellum and May escalated around 1:15 a.m., and May allegedly produced a pistol and shot Kellum. Kellum was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies arrested May without incident after a 911 call and found the body inside the residence; he was charged with felony murder and aggravated assault and held without bond.
