Nelson Cisneros Jr., 22, was shot to death at the front door of his Norcross, Georgia, home on December 15, 2022. Gwinnett County officers were called about 7 p.m. to Stanfield Court and found Cisneros near the entryway, dead from a gunshot wound. Family members described a young man with creative interests — music, fashion design and a growing interest in becoming a barber — and funeral fundraising followed as they grieved.
Police announced arrests in early January 2023: 20-year-old Requel Rayshawn Johnson and 17-year-old Antonio Montez Payne, both of Norcross, were charged with aggravated assault and felony murder. Authorities said the gang unit and the sheriff’s fugitive unit assisted in the arrests; police did not announce a motive and reports noted they could not confirm whether the shooting was gang related. The suspects were reported held without bond after arrest.
No widely reported explanation for why Cisneros was targeted has been released. Did anyone in Norcross have information about Nelson’s life or the neighborhood that could shed light on what happened?
